The ad campaign became an issue for several state attorneys general following a spread in the 40th anniversary issue of Rolling Stone magazine. Blumenthal said the nine-page spread in the Nov. 15 issue used cartoons and other "youth-targeted" imagery to promote discount camel, violating a 1998 agreement that included a prohibition on marketing tobacco products to youth.
